Our Student Services team is dedicated to supporting every student’s journey at Freshwater Bay Primary School. Comprising a diverse group of administrators, teachers, psychologists, and support staff, our team works collaboratively to provide comprehensive assistance tailored to each individual’s needs. From academic interventions to emotional support and wellness initiatives, we are here to ensure that students thrive both inside and outside the classroom. By fostering a nurturing environment and addressing challenges proactively, we help students develop the skills and resilience they need to succeed and reach their full potential.
The Deputy Principal manages the team which includes the School Psychologist, Chaplain and School Nurse. They coordinate case conferences, education and behaviour plans supported by effective programs and liaise with Department of Education specialists and outside agencies.
Working at the individual, group, whole school and system levels, the School Psychologist provides support in:
- Behaviour – working with students, parents and the school to identify and support positive student behaviours
- Learning – conducting assessments of students experiencing learning difficulties and/or disabilities at school, to support teachers to make appropriate curriculum adjustments in order to enhance learning outcomes
- Mental Health and Well-Being – providing direct support to assist students to maximise the development of positive mental health and well-being.
The School Chaplain service compliments care offered by school staff through the provision of support for student personal and social well-being.
The School Nurse conducts vision and hearing checks for Kindergarten students which includes early detection of physical and psychosocial health and development issues.
