At Freshwater Bay Primary School, we strive to create an inclusive environment that supports both students at educational risk and those who are identified as high potential learners. By offering differentiated instruction and specialised resources, we foster a stimulating environment where every student, can excel and grow. Our approach ensures that we meet the diverse needs of all students, promoting a culture of achievement and continuous learning.
INTERVENTION SUPPORT
For students at risk, we implement targeted intervention programs that offer academic support, personalised instruction, and emotional guidance, ensuring they have the resources needed to overcome challenges and achieve their potential. Student progress and achievement is tracked and measured over time to ensure benchmarks are met. Identified students are included in small group intervention such as MacqLit to support development of their learning needs.
EXTENSION SUPPORT
Simultaneously, we recognise and nurture the talents of our high potential learners through enrichment programs that provide advanced coursework, creative challenges and opportunities for independent research. We offer a multi-age extension program in both Reading and Mathematics to selected students as well as external opportunities such as Tournament of the Minds. Year Four students are aptitude tested for inclusion in Primary Extension and Academic Challenge (PEAC), a Department of Education initiative whereby students complete additional extension courses with like-minded students from schools across the metro area.
